Glen Eden – First Priority For Parking Tax

It’s another  Bloody Tax.   Auckland Transport Parking Submissions – HAVE YOUR SAY  BEFORE 30 JUNE HERE. Auckland Transport  is looking to make changes to Parking.  There is a submission document out now.  GLEN EDEN is ranked FIRST stage for the new parking tax regime, which is a bit rich considering they were last stage for any Council investment in their town streetscaping, and last stage  for arts budgets and last stage for electric trains.

Titirangi isn’t  listed  in this new parking regime, nor is Henderson.  A question has been lodged and will update here once known.

The new proposed parking regime proposes:

– Charging for on- street Parking

– Charging for Park n Ride

– Less Parking on Arterial Roads

How will this affect struggling independent retailers ? Will it drive people into malls with free parking?  What impact for Oratia School and Halls as West Coast Road is arterial?  Will this work for our area?  Should we pay for park n ride, is this just one more barrier to using public transport? (Note park n ride charges don’t start until there is regular public transport to the Park n Ride)
