Judge Kirkpatrick Takes the Stand

Part One of a two part look at the developing processes around the Unitary Plan Hearing Commission. Environment Judge David Kirkpatrick takes the stand to explain the role and work of the Commission.

JUDGE DAVID KIRKPATRICK

David was sworn in as an Environment Judge on 3 February 2014. He has been appointed under the Local Government (Auckland Transitional Provisions) Act 2010 by the Minister for the Environment and the Minister of Conservation to chair the Auckland Unitary Plan Independent Hearings Panel. The Panel will, over the next two years, hear some 9,000 submissions on the Proposed Auckland Unitary Plan and then make recommendations to the Auckland Council about the changes the Panel thinks should be made to the Plan.
