It’s not cheap – more than a  billion.  It’s a political football, so you’ll have to make up your own mind if you think it’s worth it.  But if they do go for it – the rail loop will be awesome for the West! 1/2 an hour saved from New Lynn to Aotea (the new station) and no more travelling to New Market and then backtracking to Britomart.  Crikey – my husband would be home for dinner with the kids, house prices would rise, and Glen Eden could attract more small businesses  as we’d be a hop, skip and a jump to the inner city.  If you’re still not sure how it works have a look at the video.  Those North Shore folk will be jealous for sure.
