Ok, Wow! It seems the Oratia Cycleway and School crossings that we were consulted on  appear to be going ahead (AT Project Details Here).

Auckland Transport has been in touch with the Oratia R&R as the leaseholders of the halls and carpark area, regarding  changes to the  carpark entrance. Namely the carpark entrance  is moving back  to allow for visibility and safety at a new raised crossing between the school and hall.

This will necessitate the loss of two carparks at the hall. However the plan shows a widened shared cycleway from Nolas to the school, and a raised crossing. So the idea , hopefully,  is  Oratia school kids will have more options to get to school that don’t require a car.

The moving of the carpark entrance also means the front garden is changing and will be twice as long.

The Oratia R&R had been underway with  some upgrades to the back of that entrance garden including cabling for  new lighting and  a historic local Glucina Foundry crucible waterfeature and some planting . Unfortunately the change of the garden shape and new curbing means we are now in limbo  and waiting for AT to do their bit to the garden before we finalise the electrics for lighting and placement of the pots. So apologies for the Orange netting, but we are looking forward to a good result and a more useable space.

Detailed construction plans were requested when signing off the carpark changes. I’m having trouble attaching them . If you’d like an email of   the more detailed engineers plans send me an email. Secretary@oratia.org.nz
