for teenage girls aged 13-14 ish
To develop strength, enhance self-image and build self-confidence
Aim of workshop:
• To foster positive self-image
• To encourage safe, sensible decision-making
• To reduce anxiety, fear and misinformation
• To increase feelings of safety
Activities centre on:
• Body pride
• Verbal assertiveness
• Physical techniques
• Identifying and acting on feelings
• Information on laws and rules
• Decision-making
About the tutor:
Morgan Libeau is a qualified self-defence tutor who has been teaching now for more than 15 years. Initially she taught women and girls self-defence but for some years has now concentrated only on the children’s class. Morgan believes that if information is given to children appropriately it will make them feel safe instead of scared, enabling higher self-esteem and confidence.
Where: Oratia Settlers’ Hall, 569 West Coast Rd, Oratia
When: Sunday 22 November 2015, 10am to 4pm
What to bring: A drink and snack. Lunch provided (please advise any allergies)
What to wear: Comfy casual clothes
